About the board
Red Lake Electric Cooperative is organized as a cooperative and is owned by its members. Unlike many areas of government, every year is an election year for your member-owned electric cooperative. The membership gets to experience democracy in action and elects a board of directors to represent them in the operation of the cooperative. The board selects a president to lead the elected directors.
The board hires a general manager to carry out the daily operations of the cooperative. The board is comprised of nine member-directors, one from each director district.
Directors are elected to three-year terms according to the provisions in the bylaws.
The board of directors meet regularly at the headquarters of the cooperative in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, on the last Wednesday of each month, with the exception of March, when the annual meeting of the members is held.
